I think drowning would be a lot less painful.

3rd degree burns don't hurt until afterwards, because the nerves are completely destroyed. Survivors do say that recovery is extremely painful, but with this, it's kind of a non-issue.

It'd be kind of a dick move but you could do something cool while on fire. Walk calmly into the middle of the road "This is but a start. your world will burn in three days! *death*

If youve ever smelt humen skin burning it would change your mind, as well as your sufacating, being roasted alive, screaming for death to come, your blood will be literally burning, yes your nerves will die adventulay... But you will be wishing for death long be for that happens. Burning to death is the second worst what to die, second only to dieing in the vacume of space

Drowning is okay, as long as you hold your breath as long as possible. I did drown, and died, but had CPR

Burning "to death" is actually the most painful and longest death a person can have. You don't die from the burns. You die from the suffocation.

      insert.a.sexy.name.

Wrong you have to go through 2 minutes of holding your breath then 2 more minutes of water filling your lungs as you struggle then you pass out

Well, when you burn to death you dont actualy die from burning or smth. But you die from the smoke you breath in when you'r burning which is the cause of death becouse you dont get air but smoke. So I dont realy know what tho chose..

Supposedly drowning is very comfortable after you get passed the painful choking. But you choke either way. Smoke or water.

@akcrumley. youtube search "what happens to your body in space" everything in the movies is false. you dont insta freeze or explode. the air get sucked out of your lungs but the body is a sealed unit so nothing but air escapes. then you pass out in 15sec. you die from no air. you cant freeze cause heat must travel into something else to be lost. nothing in space to do that. thats how wind works btw. the worst is the capalaries in your eyes burst but its not that bad and can heal if you lived. an accident happened and a man survived being exposed to the vacume of space. and water has no preassure on it so its boiling point is lowered. the last thing the man experienced was his saliva boiling on his tounge before he passed out. The More You Know

    • 5

      wartpig

oh to further explain the heat thing. you can NOT add cold, only remove heat. its just how it works. research it. cold dose not exist, only lack of heat

Have you ever been choked before? Drowning would be a horrible death

    • 9

      grider

People, it says burn to death, not suffocate to death. So this means that you would not die from the smoke but from your actual body being on fire. And burning to death is way more painfull. One minute of drowning and you pass out but when you burn it can take hours. If it takes long enough then your blood will start to boil which would make it so that your intestants could explode. This is not something you would want to happen. Your bones would also crack from the sheer heat.

    • 3

      grider

@xCODvict Drowning and being choked are very different. Being choked cuts of the air flow immediately which makes it more painfull. Because you can hold your breath for a while underwater you can be a little bit more prepared and therefore it wouldn't be as bad as being strangled to death.

HA!! Think again! Nerves can be killed by fire and you can die in a minute, plus smoke can make you unconssice if to much is inhaled, drowning, can be a few minutes, crushes your lungs, spares your nerves, make your eyes and nose sting and its way more borring

I'm on both sides of the thing, but even through my slight fear of any asphyxiation, burning is still way worse. I don't want to be around if my eyeballs are burning out and my bones are boiling inside out. Watch the part of Collateral Damage when he talks about that. Not fun.

FUN FACT: You drown quicker in fresh water then you do in salt water. Only in salt water, do you actually experience ALOT of pain (and also suffocate in your own BLOOD, research says). In the multiple times I was nearly out of air in pools, I never felt real pain. So really, if you're the ones who chose red, just go drown inside a pool.

Over the summer, I got three mild 2nd degree sunburns, and one extremely severe second degree sunburn (within a couple of days) and nearly drowned the same week; I was trapped beneath a boat for a little over a minute, and had no way to breath, and was barely conscious. I still have patches of skin discoloration from the burns because it was sun poisioning (which can lead to nausea. dizziness, dehydration, fevers, etc but I'm okay now) and its been 9 months. Its also been 9 months since I almost drowned and I still can't go underwater longer than a few seconds before I start to get a burning sensation in my lungs and chest, and have an anxiety attack. I'd pick burning.

The problem with this question is that the information is incomplete In most cases a person burning to death suffocates on the smoke of there burning flesh and the person drowning suffocates on water, so the quest is really do you want to be identifiable when you're found/buried...

When you're burning it takes 10 minutes for you to stop feeling and 15 to die, but those 10 minutes are the longest and most painfull 10 minutes of your life, unlike that, drowning is like choking, there's no pain, but fear.

drowning is apparently soothing; like a dream. i'd rather that than screaming as my flesh is scorching. plus, i think the coolness of a pool would be sort of relaxing as you died..

Its not. I nearly drowned (I say nearly because I stayed conscious) and was struggling for my breath for an entire minute. I can't go underwater for more than a few seconds without re-experiencing the hell I went through when I almost drowned.

you burn until your nerves are done. the burning sensation that comes with drowning would be far worse (imo) than any flame

The question here seems to be more occupational. Would you rather face the fate of a firefighter or a sailor? Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me, we pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot, drink up, me 'earties, yo ho!

If you are going to burn to death, you can breath in the smoke so you pass-out and then die painlessly :D Drowning, in my opinion, is much more painful and scary :O. I've almost drowned before, HORRIBLE experience.

You dont pass out so fast, believe me. Also, the smoke of skin isnt as poisonous as for example polyethylen, so you live a few (horrible painful) seconds

If you hold your breath long enough while underwater, you eventually get unconscious and die peacefully. Eventually..

Obviously, I mean drowning, you don't die from the water, but from cardiac arrest as you lack of oxygen, and you can still get saved by CPR though

  • 1

Drowning obviously. You could just knock yourself unconscious and you can just painlessly get a lack of oxygen, then cardiac arrest. The thing is you can still be saved by CPR.

Drowning is more painful, but quick, burning is less painful, but is slow, which is longer pain, but in a less lethal form
