If you can't touch red then doesn't that mean you die? Your blood and blood cells are red. You would have to drain all the blood from your body including your muscles and anything else that is red in the human body. Less of the human body is the color blue if any.

Blood is always red, veins appear blue due to light wavelengths being filtered differently by the skin. Blood is always red, actually. Veins look blue because light has to penetrate the skin to illuminate them, blue and red light (being of different wavelengths) penetrate with different degrees of success.

Medical Student here, and no, blood is NOT blue. When it's deoxygenated it's dark red. i have never seen blue blood, people don't bleed blue blood either and please don't tell me that that's because it immediately gets oxygenated when it comes into contact with air because the blood that we sample from veins (deoxygenated blood) using syringes, isn't blue either.

Your blood is actually blue until it touched oxygen so technically since half your blood is leaving the lungs with oxygen and the other half is returning without it either one would cause a paradox, also if I hit re that would mean I couldn't touch red forcing me to touch blue vice versa also a paradox

just wanted to point out that there is a common misconception that blood is blue until it is oxygenated but this is incorrect it is only that your veins 'look' blue making you think "oh well that's blue so whats in side must also be blue". blood is always red but is a lighter shade when unoxygenated. :D

Your blood is never blue. The only place where it is blue is in those charts that show the blood circulatory system. The people that think blood is blue obviously need to ask their science teacher again if it is or not. Never ask the internet for those things because you can never tell if it's telling the truth or not.

Blood is red because of the iron in it (as far as i know) so what all of you claiming that blood is blue until is meets oxygen also believe that iron is blue until it meets oxygen? Say you have a bucket filled with water and iron oxide (rust), and you put that bucket in a vacuum chamber and sucked out all the free floating oxygen in the chamber, your saying that the iron particles would turn blue in the absence of oxygen. also blood is always in contact with oxygen, thats sorta the point of blood :P

To get it clear: Blood is always red, no matter exposed to air or not. If you cut your self in the veins, the blood is red, if you cut yourself in the arteries, the blood will look brighter red and come speeding out instead of dripping. Water is blue, it's not reflection of the sky, if you dive deeper down into the ocean, the bluer will the sun get. If you put a white 10 liter bucket full of water in a completely white well lit room, you'll see the water has a slight blue tint.

Human blood is red because it contains a large number of red blood cells, which contain hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a red-colored, iron-containing protein that functions in oxygen transport by reversibly binding to oxygen. Oxygenated hemoglobin and blood are bright red; deoxygenated hemoglobin and blood are dark red. While human blood is red, there are animals that have blue blood. While your blood never actually turns blue, your skin can take on a bluish cast as a result of certain diseases and disorders. This blue color is called cyanosis. If the heme in hemoglobin becomes oxidized it may become methaemoglobin, which is brownish. Methaemoglobin can't transport oxygen and its darker color may cause skin to appear blue. In sulfhemoglobinemia, the hemoglobin is only partly oxygenated, making it appear dark red with a bluish cast. In some cases, sulfhemoglobinemia makes blood appear green. Sulfhemoglobinemia is very rare. So no, deoxygenated blood is not blue, Subcutaneous fat only allows blue light to penetrate skin all the way to veins, so this is the color that is reflected back. Less energetic, warmer colors are absorbed by skin before they can travel that far. Blood also absorbs light, so blood vessels appear dark.Arteries have muscular walls, rather than thin walls like veins, but they likely would appear the same color if they were visible through the skin. Problem solved!

Ha! You're the dumb one here! Sky is not a reflection of Water! You got it all mixed up! The 'blue' of the water is simply the reflection of the sky... no one said water was the reflection of sky... because if you entered a room put some water, wouldn't the water be there/be seen? therefore water itself is not the reflection of sky. The color is. And what your saying is plain dumb... if sky was the mere reflection of water, if you take out the water, wouldn't the sky disappear since you claim it is only a reflection? Please check your comment before you post them next time. ;)

    • 0

      YoshiPieces

The sky is not a reflection of water and the water is not a reflection of the sky. There are waves of light in the atmosphere and blue is the most abundant of the the colors of waves. Since the sky and water (ocean) are such big masses they need to take on a color. And because blue is the most abundant the water is blue and the sky is blue instead of just clear.

My Mom always told me that, and I assume a similar thing happened with you, but it's false. The sky is blue because of the way the light from the sun filters through the atmosphere. The sun shines all the colors of the rainbow, and the colors scatter across the sky. But, for reasons I need not explain, blue scatters the most, and so is the one that we see. The reflection of the sky shows on the ocean, and makes it appear blue.

your question can accomplise quite a bit actually it can inspire someone to make a joke and be come the next bo burnham, make someone fall in to a deep depression and kill themselves, it can make a nine year old learn what the caps lock key is, it can be used as a special code word in any language, it can do so much you wouldn't believe but right now its been typed out as a useless would you rather comment.

Blood is red because it contains iron, if you say no it has to be exposed to oxygen before it turns red, think about this how does oxygen travel to your brain.....blood, blood carries oxygen throughout the body.

we are sustained by oxygen if we didn't have oxygen always in our blood we wouldn't have blood

    1. How can blood be blue until it touches oxygen when it transports it? 2. Your skin would be completely white without blood.(only whites, I think. I'm not racist). 3. PLZ STOP BEING STUPID
