Let's say in 2030 i live in a time where russia, america, and china are on the verge of nuclear war. Let's also say the president of US during 2030 picks blue: end of the world= 2036 "ok let's try to achieve nuclear disarmanent by 2036 and ban chemical weapons and bioweapons" how the world really ended: alien invasion. Had the president picked red he would have shut down SETI, secretly making cold war nukes, and maybe warn the other 2 that maybe nuclear disarmanent will only make the human race weaker against extraterrestrial threats. Then make make some smallpox or anthrax and vaccinate all the humans. Then maybe the aliens will realize that fighting us is a very bad idea and will lead to their downfall. Perhaps they will actually exchange advanced technology 200 years ahead of our own in exchange for our WMDs.

FINALLY! Someone who’s actually thinking! If you knew how the world would come to an end, and let’s say the cause was a thunderstorm or a freaking blizzard, you’d be paranoid every time it happens! Plus, if it did happen, you’d regret not spending enough time with your freaking loved ones! But if you knew WHEN the world was going to come to an end, you’d wanna live life up to the date. I mean, at least you’ve accomplished something! Let's say you know how the world ends call it Plan A and say you prevent Plan A from happening, now the world will have a new Plan B for ending. But that would mean you didn’t know how the world ends because it didn’t end by Plan A.
