If you rarely need to be driven anywhere, the drunk driver is a passive risk you can control entirely by simply not requesting rides.
A thieving maid causes continuous, unavoidable financial loss over time, whereas a drunk driver only endangers you when you actively use them.

Have a thieving maid/nanny

Losing possessions to theft is recoverable and inconvenient; getting killed by a drunk driver every time you need transportation is not a manageable risk.
If you own little of value, a thieving maid causes minimal harm — the threat scales with your wealth, while a drunk driver's danger is constant regardless.
