Keeping sarcasm comprehension preserves the most important social and comedic register in everyday conversation
Not understanding sarcasm would leave you confused in most social situations, not just limited in humor
Having a narrow sense of humor is frustrating, but staying fluent in irony keeps you connected to most communication

Not be able to understand sarcasm

Being able to laugh at only one type of joke is far more limiting than simply not picking up on irony
Sarcasm comprehension is just one register — giving it up leaves most other humor and communication intact
Blonde jokes are widely considered hacky and repetitive, making them a very poor substitute for a full range of humor

I choose to be unable to understand irony. I can only be amused by a single type of joke, which makes my enjoyment very limited; not understanding irony may lead to misunderstandings, but I can still appreciate other kinds of fun things.
