Always be late
- Being unprepared can be life-threatening in critical moments — skydiving without a parachute, surgery without instruments — while lateness never reaches that severity
- You can call ahead to warn people you will be late; unpreparedness cannot be anticipated or mitigated in advance
- People socially adapt to someone who always runs behind; no one adapts to someone who consistently lacks what they need
